HS Clear ?

I guess HS Clear isn't made anymore ? I'm not really up on these things..

If it's not against the forum rules and you think you might be interested in a gallon or two, PM me.

I've read that for a beginner like myself, the Universal might be a better choice anyway...

Yes SPI quit making the HS clear.. It wasnt as big a seller as the rest and when Barry brought out the Euro line, he phased out the HS.. All of the resto clears used the same resin so really it wasnt that big of a deal..

The HS, MS, Universal, and the Euro all use the same resin.. The differences between all of them with exception to the Euro is simply solvency.. While the Euro does share the same resin, it also has differences in the activator iso's used in it, and I believe it does not have as many UV inhibitors in it as the other two...

No way to make it identical to the Universal and MS without charging the same price range which defeats the purpose/reason for the Euro to begin with.. Plus the Euro is a little harder because of these ISO differences which many people like..
It is still a fantasic clear, but the other two are the kings!!!

The 69 camaro Im working on now will get ss and #5100 Euro clear over that.. I like the extra hardness especially over a black car as this one will be

The HS was also not the easiest to spray, and Barry had a number of how many painters could spray it slick... Like 1 out of 7 could spray it well and like it, for the others it was too thick and difficult for them to spray slick.. My numbers may be off but you get my point

You could still use your HS and reduce it with a quality urethane reducer.. The HS was the very first clear that Barry developed.. It was his baby!!!

Yes I've read those numbers on the old forum. Guess I was a beginner who was sure he was going to be the 1 in 7 ! If nobody is interested then I'll use it and lay it on like I'm trying to run it ! But right now it's cold and the only project I have may not be ready until this summer. I did buy the reducer so I'm ready to go there...

Next purchase will be Universal, and some Regular 2k and Epoxy...

I really love the Universal clear.. Cant go wrong with it.. I have it on my own personal vehicles..

You could always reduce the HS 15% and be similar to the universal.. It sprays great like that also.. HS was the first clear I used from SPI.. I played with it allot. I reduced it even more experimenting with it... Excellent clear

Did you pop open the activator-keep in mind these have a shelf life, talk to Barry to make sure it is good before you sray or do a test. I think three years unopened is max.

Just use it if you have it. A 15% reduction like boondocking said. Maybe it's because it was my first SPI clear but it's still my favorite and I miss it. 3 wet coats and I could work it anyway I wanted and never rubbed through.
