I blew it...

I should have known better. I do know better but I thought I could out smart the chemisty...with a heat gun.

Yesterday I had some small stuff to paint. Brackets and little things. Along with a continental kit face plate. See picture

70 degrees. 99% humidity. It rained all day long. For hours non stop. Sealed everything sprayed basecoat it looked fine. Come back in 10 mins for round 2 and everything looked hazy. Milky. Blushing. Sprayed another coat. Looked fine. 10 min later. Milky. Used a heat gun to kind of evenly go over everything from about 1 ft away. It cleared up the milkyness..went to clear it and ...it's all bad. The 2 bigger pieces need respray. The brackets and small things are fine.

Big fail. Just wanted to put it out there.. don't paint anything in such high humidity and mild temperature in a garage setting atleast.

That is all

blushing doesn't happen too often but when it does it can be frustrating. some slow reducer or retarder prob would have helped along with longer flashes. was it the base that blushed or the clear?

Lesonal base with slow reducer. Then heat gun to cheat. Looked ok. So then it was spi production clear with medium reducer. (I always use slow the only had medium in the half pint size) but it looked milky as soon as it went on top of the base. 10oz of clear wasted. 10oz of base wasted. Womp womp.

This is today...it's still 99%...Iol

I do 99-100 quite often but combine that with cool temps like you have and its bad news. You can do it but everything need very slow reducer and cat. The clear will also harden like a rock so prob very difficult to buff if you jad planned on it
