I need some recommendations for a matte SS black

Trying to be the best me, I can be
Since SPI discontinued Matte black, I need an alternative. I need a single stage, the job I'm doing a matte clear is not gonna work.
Only interested in something that is high quality.
Any recommendations?

before the spi matte black i was using sem hot rod black. always worked well. the matte blacks available from the majors is usually silly priced. lesonal for instance has one that is $800+ a gallon. rm had one too many years ago priced about the same.

Could a quality flattener/matting product be used in SPI SS Black?
I though Barry used to sell some, but I don't see it on the product page anymore.

you can flatten spi single stage. its been about a year or more since i have used the spi black ss. not sure if that has been corrected or not. barry told me at one point it was fixed, i tossed the gallon and he replaced and it still did the same thing. its a great deep black but in the past i have never gotten a gallon of it that once opened, the black pigment didnt clump and form little black specks. looks like i mixed ultrafine non skid particles in it. even the old universal stuff from 15 years ago did it. i gave up on it awhile back. unless your using the whole gal in one shot on a project, which i dont, then it caused me far to many issues. for ss i just use utech now. its reasonable, looks decent and durable as hell.

I used this on my '68 Coronet. It worked and held up fine.
Just sprayed the front bumper on the Dodge Dakota with SEM 39103 flexible bumper paint. Yes it's a rattle can but I didn't want to spend a fortune on paint for this cheap truck. Not sure if they sell this in quarts and gallons for spray gun use.

Not sure if considered high quality but I recently used Eastwood matte black on some suspension parts. It mixes 4:1 and I love the way the parts came out. I did my rear end. Bare metal. 2 coat epoxy and 2 coat Eastwood matte black.

Ditzler HRB 9700 is what I have used the last 2 I did. Worked fine and wasn't ridiculously priced.
Might go with that. Do they sell it in quarts? I'd get the Utech but I don't need a gallon. Going on the rockers of this MG I'm doing so it needs to be something decent.

I do some work off and on for a high end shop that is local to me "Sled Alley Hotrods". Anyways, Matt the owner is very particular about things and he had me shoot that stuff on some Camaro parts and honestly it lays out so nice.

These are all the pics I have of the stuff laid out..

I've know Matt the owner since high school. He does some amazing builds. I've done some work for him, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it was extremely stressful. He's very particular.

As far as Stielow, I am not interested in painting any of his cars. They pay very well, but the deadlines he usually attaches to his builds don't fit my current life style. Also Dutchboys Hotrods are amazing at what they do and I don't see any reason for him to change that!

I saw Mark complaining about the cost of paint and paint maintenance and now it seems his builds are patina builds. Apparently it cost quite a lot to repair all the damage he does to show quality paint thrashing his cars on the track. :)

Hellfire is one of my all time favorite cars.
