I think I get it now.

One other thing is the type of tack cloths you are using. The cheaper versions can leave a residue behind that will cause issues.
But most likely you are applying the epoxy too heavy. For epoxy I set the gun up the same as for base coat. I will admit the white epoxy gave me a little more problems like you are seeing but that could be me trying to make it cover and applying it too heavy.

Gerson tack cloths.

I did some more work yesterday. I cleaned a door (where most of the issues seemed to be) - with something I have used before - ppg wax and grease remover - *before* the 700. This seemed to improve the issues.

As mentioned, it may be a combination of things, but I will get the 710 cleaner before I start on more bare or previously painted items and go from there. The mirror pieces I did just the 700 on 45 min before spray went horribly wrong, but the valence I just did ppg on worked fine and laid really nice and flat.

How long before sprays do people wait after the body filler is applied (and sanded)?

Thank you. I am still experimenting as I do this on the thickness of the coats of epoxy. On the finishline and a 1.5 at about 25 Psi its 2.25 turns out. Sometimes more, but that does then seem to thick.

I hope this isn't a hijack but, with the 710, is it overly critical to wipe it off the panel before it dries? Or are you good if you wipe it down and walk away?

You should wipe any W&G remover you use off the panel before it dries. The remover dissolves the wax and grease so it will be picked up by the towel. If you let it dry it defeats the purpose.

Got past this problem. I dont think I was working with the 700 properly with the weather and set up I have, so the solvent got me back out of the rut. Sanded down the doors to recoat, and they are good now with the epoxy and 2k ready for eventual blocking. Ordered some 710 from John Young in LA.

Next is getting the actual car body ready for epoxy. More complexity there as it's not Sand blasted. More paint layers and as can see the cracks in the roof. The cracks are no where else. Just many layers.

Oh, and 30 year old German flexible rubber bumpers. When it's sanded it gets... Like velvet. Already sand blasted, ready for whatever I have to do to get the ready for paint. What do people do for flexibility these days?
