Is a gallon an one half enough?

I'll be painting a 78 Camaro,my first paint job,I'll be using SPI epoxy primer (gray) an then Summit brand urthane primer (gary)over that. Then I'll be using HOK gold metallic as the base coat.I ordered 4qts gold & 2qts reducer, this will give me a gal. & one half. I'm not sure if this is enough to get full coverage,I'll be painting the jams also and fender flars to.Being I'm new to this an as of now I'm going to use the HF purple gun,I was worried about wasted paint as in over spray from the gun an me.I've been looking in pawn shops for a better gun but haven't found one yet. Speaking of pawn shops an paint guns I did run across a unused Devibiss finishline blue detail gun with a 1.2 tip, and a 8 oz.paint cup for 150.00. Is that a good price?

Don't know about paint qty, but I think I paid $150 for three gun set from DB.

Your compressor output will be critical with the finishline guns since they take 13 CFM to run @ 23 psi.
As for your gold metallic paint, you are taking on a lot for a first time painter. Metallics are touchy and require good atomization and proper technique to prevent mottling, tiger stripes and get a consistent coverage.
The prep work must also be meticulous because every flaw and dent will show.
That being said, you may be short on paint at 6 qts RTS. Lighter colors will often take more coats to get complete coverage and you "should/might" have just enough for 3 coats. Cutting it so close on paint leaves you no room for error since you will not have enough to respray a panel if the need arises.
I suggest you start with a practice panel and keep track of how many coats it takes to get the coverage you are looking for then adjust your purchase accordingly. Nothing worse than to run out of paint while in the middle of spraying a car unless its bumping the car with the air hose, leaning up against it while spraying the hood, having paint drip from the cup or gun, watching bugs commit suicide in your fresh paint, etc. :nightmare:
