Is a wall regulator necessary?

Just about finished with my garage, recently plumbed my air compressor with 3/4" copper for roughly 30 feet before I have my outlet. It's in a 24' garage, it's as much as I could get without looping around. I have a Milton metal filter going to a Wix Aquacheck filter at the end. My gun's regulator can handle 175 lbs of input pressure and my compressor puts out about 160. I looked up most of my air tools and didn't see any maximum air pressure ratings.

Do I need to run a regulator at the wall?

yes. you may want to use other tools where you need lower pressure. i turn mine wide open when shooting. if running the da to sand i'll turn it down to 35 or so .

If your spray gun's regulator looks like this:

....then that is more of a flow restrictor and not a true pressure regulator. Basically a gate valve. If that is the case, you would get better air "pressure" control from a wall regulator

This spray gun regulator truly controls air pressure as it contains a spring loaded diaphragm mechanism...

Shine, is there any other tools you regulate? Do you regulate the D/A to cut down on the compressor running, or do you find it sands nicer at lower pressure?
