IS SPI epoxy self-etching?

Found a reference on the website that says it is self-etching. Is that the case? It sounds like self-etching and acid-etching are two different things.

Got into a bit of a debate about this on one of the other forums I frequent. Guy claims that epoxy cannot be self-etching.

Here is what I read on the SPI website:

Self-etching epoxy primer doesn't require the use of an acid-etch primer

Thanks,
Don

Really its a term like urethane's, means almost nothing today.

Most epoxies with stick to bare metal like glue (if prepped right) and the weakest point of adhesion would be an acid etch underneath it.
Usually these discussions are a waste of time.

terms... like aresol self etch primers. It's illegal to load an acid in an aresol.
