Jeff's 65 C-10

thanks Bob! I'll look for those, will come in handy for my upcoming van project, have to get that compressor fixed first

Thanks Chad,

What size would be advisable for starters? any other tools needed? hard to tell what you need and what they try to sell you.

Wheel well time!

Not sure on colors yet, a lot to be decided by then, I have a few ideas, but by then I will probably have a few more!!

the curved part where you attach the Cleco's, is that some kind of custom/in house built piece? the part that follows the tubing of wheel well. It's insanely cool and super clean looking. This is going to be a killer truck!

It was something I had a place cnc plasma cut for me, when they are all welded in i'm going to have to file the cut marks, which is going to be time consuming, next time i'm doing with water jet.

I saw some tab looking fastener locations like like that on one of Troy Trepanier's builds and thought it was a shame he was stealing your ideas.

Lol, I wish that was the case, cleco's are actually pretty old technology, wonder what they were originally used for.

Chad,

I think Crash was referring to Troy's take on a Talladega Torino, featured in this month's Hot Rod. The Plexiglas windshield and quarter windows, as well as the inner fenders are mounted very much like yours:

The images are from the Hot Rod magazine website:

I have a lot of respect for Troy's design and execution but I have to say yours looks better. Beyond the detail of the tab plates, the flowing curves of your panels are beautiful and they provide clearance to actually work on the engine. I get the whole 'hide the engine with panels' look of today's cars but I like to see the working hardware when the hood is opened.

This car is top notch, I had the chance to see it at his shop this summer, I did get some inspiration from the car and some of his other cars he has done over the years, I'm not a big camaro fan but the F87 car he is doing has some nice metal work as well.

I think we are pulling off a different overall look though, especially considering the air cleaner set-up.
Although being in comparison to such a builder is not something to frown upon. lol.

There is also a lot of metal work to come on this truck so stay tuned. :)

Yeah, Bob, you nailed it! I don't like everything about that Torino build, but it sure is a fantastic piece of workmanship.

I don't care for much of Troy's creations but I can appreciate the work invested-many hours. Chad's utilitarian style interior fab on his S-10 makes more sense IMO.
