Lake Country foam pads and Griot's BOSS polishes

I already have a full set of LC foam pads from heavy cutting to finishing, along with Griot's Fast Correcting Cream and Perfecting Cream that I've been using for years for detailing, and I'm quite happy with them. I use them on a Flex 3401 orbital polisher. Will these be sufficient when I start doing DA sanding to finish off paint jobs? I see the 3M line of polishes appear to be popular, and I see a lot of people using wool pads as well. I've never used a wool pad before, so I'm leery about starting since I feel like they can be a lot more aggressive/difficult to deal with vs a foam pad.

Any tips would be appreciated!

I don’t think an orbital is aggressive enough. I prefer wool with a rotary for compounding. 3M compounds suck big time imho. They are full of fillers that die back. ACA 3D 510 is a popular compound on this forum. I don’t recall seeing anyone recommending 3M compounds here except for the final polish.

Don
2X on the 3D. Switched recently and very happy.

lol at myself

When I first looked up the ACA 3D stuff my mind read it as 3M. That's what I was referring to in my post, my mistake. Seeing as how I have almost two full containers of the Griots stuff I guess I'm going to try them out and see if they do what I need before getting the 3D stuff. I almost forgot I bought a cheap rotary a while back, but so far I've only used it to polish glass. I've never used a rotary on paint, it kinda scares me.

Try your griots fcc first and see what happens. If you refine your scratches high enough a flex 3401 with the right pad will work fine. They’re forced rotation so they’ll do quite a bit of polishing with the right pad and compound. I do love 3D polishes as well myself though. But griots makes good stuff. Like I said I’d just sand it to I finer grit before you start polishing.
