Long Board Paper

What do you guys like to use for long board paper and can it be shipped for a reasonable price? The only jobber within a reasonable distance from me has closed up.

i always buy it in rolls except for 36g which comes in the 17" long sheets. i have always used the norton 275 or 3m gold but i have recently been buying the cheap 3m red paper in rolls. i cant say i see too much of a difference with it for sanding filler and primer except the its 1/2 the price. would never use it on metal. for 36/40 grit i like the 3m green corps stuff.

I found this on Amazon:
[h=1]3M Stikit Paper Sheet Roll 426U, Silicon Carbide, 2-3/4" Width x 25 yds Length, 80 Grit, Gray (Pack of 1) $18.32[/h]
The 3m Gold is 62.79 for 25 yards on Amazon Prime. I used to get the same thing from my local guy for about $46. I've never tried this white 3M paper. It's hard to believe that 3m would sell something so much cheaper if it actually works. Then no one would by their gold.

[h=1]After more searching, I found what you were talking about, Jim.
3M 01688 Stikit Red 2-3/4" x 25 Yard P80 Grit D Weight Abrasive Sheet Roll $28.02[/h] Is there a better place than Amazon to get this stuff? I have Amazon Prime, so these prices are with free 2 day shipping.

Klingspor in 40/80/120 grits.

Inexpensive and crushes 3mgold paper in sharpness and longevity. I like 3m gold in 180/240/320/400 for finers grits. Norton is good also, but nothing I've tried is as good as the Klingspor for cutting. Glue is so strong I have to keep the board dusted or they don't come off. 3m and Norton fall off everytime the board isn't sterile. The finer grits of Klingspore seem to plug up quicker. At least 8 years ago they did and I haven't tried any since.

Part#'s
AR20015 120 grit 2.75 by 25 meters About 25 dollars a roll. Looking at my old price sheet so I'm estimating up from my last order.
AR20013 80 girt " " " "
AR20010 40 grit " "

They carry nice 6" aluminum oxide DA discs that are cheap also.

Klingspor 1-800-228-0000

never tried klingspor since i have never seen it sold anywhere but i am always up for anything. as for the red, i just get it locally from my jobber. just looked up what they charge me and 80 grit is $26 and 120 is $20. i guess amazon is as good a place as any.

i just use eagle for color sanding. basically 1000 and up. idk, i tried the red and saw basically no difference between that and the gold. atleast for 80-320.

best bang for the buck I have seen is Indasia in rolls, I stocked up awhile back when I seen it selling for $17/roll. I have also ordered Board and also DA paper from Supergrit and was not disappointed: They have Mirka sale priced at $22-$25 for 40yard rolls http://www.supergrit.com/MirkaRoyalProd#ROYFBR

I've gotten some klingspor& indasia rolls from car show vendors before sold at reduced prices. Between that, I've gotten 80 120 220 &320 stick on rolls from woodcraft woodworking stores, I think with the porter cable name.
