btw, I asked a guy who is very knowledgeable on early Falcons. Here is his reply to the question -

Hi Terry, a quick question for you: are the 1960 and 1961 fenders identical ? thanks, Larry

Larry,

The 60-61 fenders are identical for the base and deluxe 60 models and the 61 base models. The 61 deluxe fenders have the square holes for the moulding clips used with the surround trim.

Summary:

60 fenders have no trim on the fenders, other than the Falcon script.

61 base wagons, sedans, and Ranchero are the same as the 60.

The 61 Deluxe wagons, Rancheros, and sedans have the square and round holes for moulding clips, so are unique to the 61.

Terry

the 60 front fenders and grille are different. the grille is concave and the fenders are flat. 61 the fenders have the point on then and the grille protrudes .

I found these pictures of the same view of the 60 and 61 Falcon fender and grille area, please tell me where the difference is so I can inform Terry he has missed something :)

sometimes i wonder if there was an early and late , ford did a lot of that early release and mid year stuff .. the 3 i was looking at were 60-61-63. the 61 had the point like this 61 wagon (which could be a 62 ). that and many times folks are not sure on year. not looking good on finding one so i may end up building the cougar .

Using google, it looks like 62 and 63s have the point on the fenders and the protruding grill. Not sure if that might have started at some point in 61 or? I am NOT a Falcon expert.

Exactly what are you looking for - 1960 Falcon 2dr, what condition does it need to be in? I can check on the one I posted about and see if it is a 60 or 61 and take some pictures and get info on it if you wish. Will have to try and do that tomorrow or in a couple of weeks when I am in that area again.

61-63 . found a 63 ht in houston. pretty rough and tore down . the 67 cougar i have is missing a trunk lid and will need a dash pad. thats close to 1k . may end up having to build it . just like to find a complete car. running gear is no big deal . a hull is fine .

That has a 63 grille in it as well as a 63 bumper & fender .

62 had vertical bars, the bumper had a center section that was raised up into the grille area and the scallops on the fenders were more rounded with the apex of the curve above the coves center line.

man with these prices my junk on the hill just went up ! it looks like i will be building the 67 cougar. just need to find a trunk lid . thanks for looking. found one that was reasonable but it was 900 miles away. that adds a bunch .
