media blast plastic grill? how to prep question

hi guys,

I have a grill that I'm painting blue for a friend on a 98 honda civic. It has very fine bee hive looking shapes, and I'm not about to try to get paper or a scotch brite in there to scuff it all up (unless that's the only option)

I was thinking about using my siphon blaster and just kind of dusting it from a distance to profile the plastic a bit....is this a no no, or would I be OK? I figure blast, adhesion promoter, epoxy as a sealer and finish it off. If not, how would you guys prep and prepare it?

thanks for any opinions and advice !

If the paint on the grille is in good shape seems it would be a lot easier to use "scuff stuff" and a grey scotch pad. If you have access to soda blasting then maybe (remember if you soda blast to neutralize the surface before applying product-usually just give it a good wash down). But not knowing what you are using for media in your blaster I'd say scuff it if the existing finish is ok.

I've purchased walnut shell for blasting fiberglass parts without damaging the finish, seemed to work well
