I have this metal patio furniture set with the paint pealing off. The cheap metal is also dusting, so not sure how to prep/ paint it. I guess I could have it powder coated but would probably cost a fortune. Or maybe have it media blasted with a low aggressive media then epoxy? Has anyone worked on something like this and how did you approach it?

blast, epoxy and flattened single stage. i have a couple of the same tables. only problem is they are so cheap that the blast and paint usually cost more than what new ones cost. they put cheap garbage powdercoat on them from the factory and you get maybe 3 years out of it before it starts to go. i have a table and chair set that i paid through the nose for and the powder on that set still looks fresh 16 years later.

Looks like cast aluminum. I agree with Jim C, blast, epoxy and it will look cleaner with a flattened top coat.
