Mopar Factory Primer Color

Has anyone replicated the dark gray factory underside primer on late 60's/early 70's mopar muscle cars using epoxy.

I have a customer who unfortunately already blasted the car and has no old primer to match.

Any thoughts on a ratio of gray/black epoxy to match this?

You'll want to mix the black with the white epoxy.
And it doesn't take much black to alter it a lot.

Have him scrounge up a part with primer on it and bring it to you would be the simplest way .

He has a formula that he uses that is single stage urethane. You can buy gallons or quarts I believe. I've talked with him a few times on this but yet to get any from him. He does use SPI epoxy also..(just not as a topcoat on the underside). You can duplicate it in epoxy with black and gray..but its hard to get the correct sheen. Of course..that isn't really relevant if you aren't really looking for a 100 point resto. I believe he will send you a sample..

I usually use a 50/50 mix of black and gray....but if you are looking for as close to authentic as you can get...that probably isn't correct. Looks nice though once you get the color overspray on it.
