Well, I've looked at too much internet info until I'm totally confused. I bought the SPI Black Epoxy Primer, Black Single Stage.
Witch SPI Clear Coat is most durable clear? The weather is finally warm enough to paint epoxy.
What's the Most scratch or swirl resistant from Grandkids cleaning Grandpa's Harley? I will Use HOK KANDY to paint flames on Black that will be cleared then shoot more clear over the flames.
I bought Iwata airbrushes and LPH80 124G Mini gun with 1.2 cap
Test tank i used GM8555 black, HOK Kandy and intercoat but I need a good clear that shouldn't have compatibility issues.

The Production Clear will be the most scratch resistant (per Barry), but the hardest to buff if you do get scratches. The Universal will buff and polish the easiest. No compatibility issues with either.

If Production is so hard, wouldn't it be more prone to chipping easier than Euro?

I did my Street Glide with SPI black base, ghost flames and then Universal Clear.
If I had it to do over, I would use the Euro Clear.
The UC is great, but it is soft and gets micro scratches pretty easily. They buff right out, but I've heard from others that this doesn't happen as much with the Euro.

Yes, but I had over 400,000 miles on my last delivery van with no chips in the production clear I used on it. 300,000 was after I painted it.

Nice! If the Production Clear is thinner, spraying more layers, would it have the Depth and Clarity of the Euro 2020? Or can a layer of Production clear help the Euro without messing with Clarity? By my Questions, you know I'm a Newbie!

None of the SPI clears are what I would consider "hard". And I consider that they aren't a good thing.

So if the clear is soft it scratches easily and if it's really hard it will crack from vibration?

To someone new to this you aren't going to be able to tell the difference when it's on the vehicle.

Here in a nutshell are the differences between the three.
Universal is considered the flagship. Designed for high end work but also adaptable to everyday production work (collision repair). It is slightly softer to allow for a long buffing window to accommodate custom work. It is a true high solids polyurethane clear. It stays easily buffable over the life of the clear.

Production clear was developed from Universal with a different activator to allow for more flexible use when doing production work. It is lower solids than Universal.

Euro 2020 was designed to be even more flexible than production in mix ratios, to allow production shops more options without lessening overall quality of the product being used. It is the "easiest" of the three to spray for anyone new to this IMO. It is lower solids than Universal and Production (slightly). It is what is considered a medium solids clear.

All three will look good on a vehicle. There will be very little difference in appearance, especially to a novice. The main differences are in how they spray, how they can be reduced, the amount of solids and how fast they cure. Irregardless of which one you use you always need to spray enough coats to have a minimum amount of mils on the panel. Very important especially if you are planning to cut and buff.

So if the clear is soft it scratches easily and if it's really hard it will crack from vibration?
Universal doesn't scratch easily, just easier than the other clears. Especially in the first few months. This always gets amplified and it's not really true. Yes it's softer. But if you aren't abusing the clear when washing, rubbing up against it with abrasive clothing etc, it's not an issue.

None of the SPI clears are what is considered "really hard". Cracking from vibration would not be an issue. At least with the clear itself.

As someone new to this just go with the Euro. No need to overthink it.

Ok Great that explains Everything! Euro will be my Choice! Thank you So Much!
I've Never seen such a detailed explanation anywhere before! Thank You.

I'm new to Painting my 1st real Paint Job except for practicing with my new Airbrushes. I don't want it to dry too fast because I wouldn't know how to fix it.
