MS clear and a vintage paint gun.....

After 12+ years of working on my project ('66 Mustang fastback) I'm starting to question my equipment. My old paint gun is a Devilbiss JGA-502 siphon gun.
Will this be adequate for the job? Will it atomize and lay the clear properly? After investing over $25K in this project, I'm not going to cheap out if I need a modern paint atomizer!
FWIW, I didn't even think about mentioning my base coat paint since this is the SPI fourms. But I'm planning on ordering by base through ProSpray. Using the original color of Code T, candy apple red. Also laying down white lemans stripes, but I need to start another thread on this.

you have one of the finest guns ever made. what i found was my jga was putting too much down. after all the money i have spent on guns i often wonder if i could have tuned the jga . i plan to find out. i love my iwata but i detest gravity guns in general. they work great but having to rinse out between coats gets aggravating . i am going to get another iwata but it will be a siphon gun .

run a test panel with it. keeping in mind it will put a lot down. try turning it down some.35 lbs and just enough material to get a wet coat. you may need to bump up on air but keep the fluids down .

Figure it out Shine, I too loved my JGA-502.

I still have some JGA's, by far my favorite old gun. I keep one loaded with guidecoat now but I don't miss the cloud they put out especially when atomizing high solid urethanes.

So, I just ordered the GFG-670 after reading that the 502 has something like a 35% transfer rate compared to the 670's 65%. Less money being sent into the air as overspray I have to catch in a filter.
Now I have to think about selling the old 502. Other than eBay, anyone know a good source to list this? What would it be worth these days?
