Need a vapor filter for home garage spraying

I've been painting my car 8-10 days now over the past 4-5 weeks, epoxy primer, 2k, more epoxy, base, etc. Today my neighbor complains about the smell to the police, so I have to do something if I want to spray anymore at home. Can anyone recommend some kind of filter system for home use that might get the job done?
Thanks.

That blows. Have you tried spraying at night on a weekday? That or find out when they go to work and take a sick day? What did the fuzz tell you?

This was about the 10 day of spraying with the same setup, in garage, doors closed, box fan under one door, etc. I guess it was a perfect storm, a lot spray time, 2pm, heavy still air, neighbors pool side

Don't know anything about the waterborne paint, but activated charcoal filters will get rid of all the odor. We were working on an addition to a hospital a few years ago and diesel smoke from excavators and other stuff was getting sucked into an 8 ft square louver on the side of the existing building. This went straight to an air handler that supplied all the operating rooms. No option of recirculating air in operating rooms, so the louver couldn't be blocked off. We got some activated charcoal filters and put them in place of some other air filters in the air handler. Killed the diesel odor immediately, and the one set of filters continued to work fine for the ~3 week duration of the excavation project.

Worth mentioning though that the filters we used were made like normal air filters with a cardboard frame rather that just a pad as shown in the ebay link above. If you decide to go with charcoal filters, you can probably check with a local HVAC contractor who does industrial and commercial work and either get them there or find out from them where they're available in your area.

I set up my booth in my garage with a blow thru set up using electrostatic filters on inlet side right after the fan and a set of swamp cooler mats over a pan with an outlet in the outlet duct I then added a water spray bar powered by a small pump. before this setup when I would start painting a cloud could be seen floating down the street when I was painting but after the water spray i could stand in the discharge and not even smell the paint. the water also kills the cyanide in the activator.

Thanks for the reply. I"m actually looking at this issue again as I'm getting ready to paint another car. Do you have a pic of your setup? Never heard of a swamp cooler mat, but then no swamps in NJ.

I don't know if this is an option, but when I was putting my car in Epoxy I sprayed late at night. I was worried about compressor noise, but more worried about fumes going in to the neighbors back yard. No complaints so far.

Some retired people can be real PITA's that's for sure. Luckily I don't have that problem but one call from anybody will stop all the fun. I highly suggest you get charcoal filters along with standard filters. Do you have another window on the other side away from the neighbor you can vent from?

Time of day is tough, during the day I have my neighbors, at night its the rest of my family. My garage (and compressor) is under the master bedroom...

I have a two car attached garage 15' from property line with no windows, just two garage doors and rear entry door. I thought about getting one of these fans: http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/hvac/fans/blower/portable-ventilation-fan-12-in-diameter
and buying lay flat ducting like this:
http://www.negairmachines.com/catal...oducts_id=26&zenid=cr1pmdjo3mrsn4u1j2kru1cfg2
to duct the exhaust across to the other side of the yard, or up the house some how.
I'm not too concerned now because neighbors are inside, but I'd like to have some options when the weather gets warmer.

I thought about the charcoal filters, but would think they'd get loaded up with paint pretty quick even using some type of pre filter to catch the paint mist.
Steve, what kind of setup do you have regarding exhaust filters? size and type/brand?
Thanks.

Swamp cooler is the nickname for an evaporative cooler. Water runs down matting which has air passing thru it and the evaporation of the water cools the air. Using it can make your home feel sticky like being in a swamp in the summer, lol. You could take a swamp cooler and mount it backwards through the wall so it pulls inside air out through the wet media . check on craigs list for a used one ?
