Need Help/Advice - SPI 2K Primer Viscosity

Need some advice from others that have some experience with the SPI regular 2K primer. I'm a hobbyist working on a '41 Ford PU project. I received 2 gals. of 2K primer plus activator about 3-4 weeks ago from Barry. It's been stored in the house at about 72 degrees. I just opened one gallon, then the other (first time lids were opened on both), in preparation for priming my hood. I was shocked! The paint is amazingly thick - like pancake batter. Surely, this isn't normal, is it? I haven't tried it yet, but it's hard to imagine that reducing as much as 25% will put it in sprayable condition. As I said, I haven't used this product before but I've used several other brand 2k urethane primers and have never seen anything like this viscosity. Just needed some reassurance or confirmation that this is either normal or not. Thanks. -Ken

That is normal and when you activate it it will thin down, if gun don't handle at that point a shot of urethane reducer will not hurt one bit.
Some people reduce 10-25% but that all depends on gun you are shooting it through.

Lets see, its raining cats and dogs, Andy has my truck so I can't go no where and my wife has been at kitchen table since 9:00 with her computer from work, working.

I cleaned basement, worked out (twice) and I'm bored to tears, so you all have to put up with me!

HA - LOL ! I'm always incredibly glad to 'put up' with someone who's prompt, helpful, and saved my arse from a panic attack! I just got in from the shop, and sure enough just like you said, the activator did most of the trick but I added a shot of reducer and it worked just fine. Actually, I started spraying it a little dry but made a few adjustments and it worked like a charm. Can't wait to start blocking and prepping other parts for more primer. Thanks again. -Ken
