I have a Devilbiss FLG 4 with 1.8 tip that I use for 2k primer, primer will drip from the needle- cap opening. I have cleaned the gun very good. Do any of you guys know what I need to do to fix the drip?

Not being familiar with those gun JC only thing I can tell you is to look at this diagram and make sure everything is in place on yours.

I had horrible issues with my old devilibis when spraying polyester primer. The needle would not return and fully seat at the end of a trigger pull about half way into each spray session resulting in dribbling after trigger release. It turned out that item 7, the needle packing was old and worn allowing the fluid to build in there and interfere with the needle returning. It could also be a weak spring item 6.

The needle isn't seating into the nozzle. If everything is working smoothly, there could be a piece of dried paint inside the nozzle. Sometimes wear can cause a leak too, if the needle is scraping the inside of the nozzle when being pulled back.

Back in the late 90's I had a finish line gun I bought to use for primer. I used it 2X, cleaned it religiously after each time. Third time it started doing the exact same thing. No obvious reason why. I took it back to my Jobber and got a refund.

I appreciate all you guys taking time to help me out, It starts to drip as some of you guys said "after spraying the first coat of 2k" . I am going to lube it up good before I use it again and see how it goes.

Make sure all the gaskets are there and in the right place as well.

I’ve got one of the earlier Finishlines I use for a primer gun.

Make sure the #3 seal is in it. It often comes out when cleaning.
