K i come home from a long day of irradiating people when my mother tells me someone keyed her car on both sides.

Im fuming

They went pretty deep too. Must be proffessional car scratchers

I wet sanded one scratch and buffed it out and you can still see and feel it.

Im wondering if it is possible to clear over the affected panels???

The car is a lease and i dont want to get fined by the dealer.

Car is a 2014 chevy cruze

Thanks all here is a pic of one of the scratches on the drivers side image-524839378.jpg

is it through the clear coat? I did a few of these jobs in tech school if its not in to the paint your able to use a rough scotch brite and scuff it down really well and re-clear, just keep in mind that factory clear is very thin. if its down into the paint its a color re-shoot or possible blend, its not very old so the paint shouldn't be faded and your paint shop can mix you a blendable match.

hope this helps

thanks.
yea the one scratch is down to the color.

if i can clear over the panels, im not too worried about the color

yea, collision shops do it every day when they blend color slightly into the adjacent panels, they have to clear entire panels at a time because clear never blends perfectly

What he said^^^^ call the insurance company and let them deal with it. If you really want to fix it yourself that is fine, but let them pay for the repairs, that's what you are paying them for. As for repairing the scratches, if they are to the color, you will have to feather them in to completely hide them which will result in needing to blend the color over the repaired area and then re-clearing the panels. If any of them are through the color, it will be easier to fill the scratches with a glazing putty and then feather that into the surrounding area prior to blending color and clearing the panels. Just my thoughts and worth exactly what you paid for them......

wet the scratches down with a wipe of solvent based wax and grease remover to help see if the color has been damaged.

Thsnks for the ideas
As for insurance... Please they make you pay for it in the end

Went back to the food store and asked security for video of the parking lot and they said they dont have caneras.

I call their bs

Did you confirm if the color is damaged? Talk with your Insurance company to see if there would be a rate increase if you file a claim.

In a few spots where i wet sanded i cut right through to the base and the scratch was still there. After i am finished painting my camaro, i am going to use the leftover uv clear and get some base and re do both sides of the car. The only blending i would have to do is the front of each fender snd the rear of each quarter so it blends into the bumpers, hood, and trunk lid. The doors i can spray full color since they do not go into any other panel.
Its a good thing i like to paint

I finally did the car last weekend. Took me two days of prepping and masking and then wetsanding and buffing. The color matched perfectly and i think it looks greatimage-441748000.jpg
