Need to repaint steel dash?

Ok so I need help. I have a steel dash that was modified, spi epoxy, pro spray then universal clear. An area that I was thinking would be covered by dash pad will not. Needless to say it was not finished properly. Of course the rest looks great. Lesson learned
I am going to repaint the dash.
I started with 80 grit by hand before applying filler. What grit should I use before epoxy?
How much of the existing cc/bc do I need to remove before epoxy? Thanks in advance. Chris

Hit that area with 180 real quick, all you need to do is kill the shine of the new clear, could just use a gray scuff pad also you do not need to spray epoxy over the sanded clear unless need to.

If there's no bare metal, just go straight to 2K urethane after smoothing out the bodywork with 180 and scuffing the surrounding area with a gray pad like Barry says.
