New(er) Presta 2-step system

Has anyone used this compound system? A promo kit comes with a Qt of the compound, Qt of the polish, QT of some "fast wax" which is really like a glaze, blended wool pad, white foam pad, and black foam pad.

I've used it on the last two cars and I must say, pretty impressed considering I've been using the 3m perfect it 6085 (purple bottle). Seems to last as long as the 3m and I get a little better finish with it and their blended pad. I never have been a fan of the white foam pads and still prefer the wool pads. Being waterbased, the clean up is real easy also.

Just wondering if anyone else has any feedback on it? If I remember the price is almost half of the 3m.

any thoughts on how it compares to the ultra cutting compound?? I may have to try this.. I really like the presta compounds but haven't tried the new one.

the ultra cutting creme was really great in its day but that day has come and gone. i didnt know presta came out with anything new. i'll have to give it a go.

i'm still working on a gal of presta cutting cream . i like it but it just works me to death . most likely because i avoid high speed. amazon has sales quite often on presta .

I find that I can run the buffer a little lower rps with this stuff compared to the 3m.

The kit came with a "spray n shine" that they recommend using with it, but you can just use water. It helps keep the pad clean so it doesn't load up.

it's amazing the difference it makes . i've been using a mister since the water base came out years ago. the older stuff dried out real fast in the summer here in texas. made a god awful mess . windex seems to work really good to keep the pad clean. my flex came with the smaller pads and at first i didn't think i would like them but they do offer better control it seems. buffing has been hard on me. i'm a dinosaur who used wool pads and red paste for years . this new stuff has been a learning experience for me. the high speed just scares hell out of me.

I used the Presta cutting creme for a while and decided I could just start with Chroma Ultra Polish instead. Less haze and just as fast or faster than the cutting creme when the scratch is at 2500 or finer.

I'd be willing to try something new. i'd like to know if the finished product is finer than Presta Swirl Remover with the blue pad. I need a product for dark colors that is finer than that.

I hate buffing bit its part of what we do. Over the years I've tried several different companies and am currently using Presta because my local jobber 10 minutes away carries it. Still to date I think 3M compound has always out performed them all

i just got an email from 3m about their new "1" system. it basically has you run through the sanding steps all the way to 5000 then there is no compounding. you end with 5000 and go right to polish.

I saw that too Jim. That would be interesting to see..... I just got a box of 5000 in so maybe when I finish off this presta I will give that a whirl. Still liking the presta though. I may even try their #2 step over the 5000 and see how that goes. Supposedly the #2 step polish has diminishing abrasive in it.

Tried the 5000 discs for the first time last week-very nice! But there sure is a premium price tag $130 for a box, add in the price of the other papers and quality compound and polish.... none of it is economical but sure saves time and produces good results. I'll try the new Presta, I bet it's cheaper than 3M?

ouch its been awhile but i know i didnt pay that bob. even so, if 2 discs do a whole car then its not as bad as it seems. as with anything we buy from pbe supplies to cars to appliances and everything else......there is a cost to buy and a cost to use. not all but in most cases i have come to the conclusion that a lower cost to buy = greater cost to use in the long run.

Just paid $80.55 for a box last week.
Jim also was looking at the bufflex green(supertack/velcro), seems they are not available. Are you using them or the bufflex green in the psa?

I have a box of the green blufflex dry (has holes in it). I was told they discontinued the wet version on the green but still do have the black in wet version.

2500 dry isn't bad.

no i am using the green wet in velcro. i havent heard they discontinued it. i cant imagine that but who knows. i have tried the black and thought it was a bit too fine or atleast too big a jump from 1500 to black.
