New guy here. My homemade booth

Ive been painting cars for 30 yrs now. I finally built a 30x40 garage in my backyard. The paint area is 24x13x12. I did the best i could to set it up accordingly to the way the garage is built.
I installed a variable shutter fan in which i can control my speed. I installed 4 registers 14x20 on the opposite wall with filters. The idea was to pull the “fresh air” from the other side of the garage that is heated and A/C for year round use. The paint booth also has its own heat and A/C but will be off during the time im spraying base/clear. If anyone has any thoughts on how i can improve it, im open to listen. Since the area has been just recently somewhat completed I have not sprayed yet to see how its going to function.

Thanks

Just needs more lighting. Other than that it looks great! I am sure once you start going at it in there you will fine tune things as needed.

Very nice, good job. I agree with orange juice, more lighting is needed. I can see shadow from the side of the car in your picture posted. Harbor Freight 4' LED lights mounted to the wall will work. Those LED lights put out a good amount of light for $20 dollars.

Also a $40 dollar smoke machine from Amazon will tell you how well, and how fast, your booth exhausts an overspray cloud, especially clear coat.

Or........... I can load my car up and we will use it as a test of how well your booth performs :)

looks like it will work fine. i like 16ft wide for more room. i burn a shop rag . blow out the flame and it smokes like crazy.
put an 8ft light vertical light in each corner. they will let you see your pattern no matter the color.
mine is 16x24x10. 24in turbine fan . just rebuilt my door after 25 years of use. paint kept falling off the chip board.

Actually I owe you an apology. After re-reading your original post, I see you've been a painter for 30 years. I'm sure you are well versed in what's needed for a paint booth.

All good dude. I started out painting cars as a kid in my dads backyard right in the grass. I use to own a collision shop, i had a downdraft booth. But, after selling the business ive been just restoring cars on the side now. Pictures are from a shop i rented prior to the garage i built. Im use to painting in various spots, like this wide open area. For the most part, they came out pretty clean.

If that last image is an off the gun finish just look in the classifieds for all of my shit for sale.....
Lol. Those pics are tack free pics. No wet sanding. But trust me, they all dont lay like that. On my show cars, i like to over reduce my last coat and just let it flow. These were painted with SPI 1:1
