new to forum and autobody/paint

Hi guys can someone please give me an insight on this. I'm doing alot of reserch and reading a tone of different ways to do things. I always thought water and bare metal is a NONO. I'm stripping exterior panels with air craft stripper and after I'm done do I wash the bare metal with soapy water? I'm reading to wash with water and soap. Then dry/ blow dry. Hit it with w&g removed, 80 grit then again with w&g. Let rest then epoxy? Is that a good way? Or will I mess up with the water part?

Yes you wash the stripper off with soap (dawn dish soap is a favorite) and hot water. You don't want any trace of that stuff left on the panel. NO- lacquer thinner won't work, no matter what your read on other websites. I use a leaf blower to dry larger parts and just the air gun on the compressed air hose for little stuff.
You have the correct procedure, now get to work.
Any surface or "flash" rust you get will be removed by the da and the maroon scotch brite pad. (those tiny spots you just cannot seem to get, they will not matter anyway as the epoxy is going to seal right over them and stop any moisture from ever activating any iron oxides that are present)
btw have you read : http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/perfect paint.htm and http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/adjusting your gun.htm

Thank you I booked marked those threads and I will read them sometime later. So I got busy on car today. Fenders are off and stripped just need to do the finishing layer with a da to get it clean. Did the doors today went well got enough off till were da will rip threw it. But a problem came up I started to do finishing touches to the doors with da started the compressor up and the da started spitting water. I blew air on a panel and it was getting wet. So I have to do that but washing with soap and water and a red scotch brite worked great. I'm thinking of buying a electric polisher/sander like a 7 inch and just Sanding it like that. Any ideas? This site has been great
