New to me Sata's

Visited the pawn shop again and got a 4000B HVLP with 1.3 and a Jet RP with 1.4. What can you guys tell me about them?

I've never been much of a fan for the sata hvlp's. However, they are great guns...just seems like the Iwata's work better for me for basecoat. The RP's are great for both base and clear. One of the best for clear.

I have a 2000 hvlp that just sits on the shelf and collects dust.

Since I don't have a booth, I have to use the HVLP's. I'll probably sell the RP but it needs a new air distribution ring. What is a good source for those. I may get one for the 4k too. I paid $400 for both. Good deal?

Is that a local regulation or something? To my knowledge RP's are approved at the same level as the HVLP's in the 6h rule.

The dist. rings come in a pack of 3. Any local auto body supply house can get them. Is the RP a 4000 also?

The RP is of an unknown nature right now. It's not marked 3k or 4k. It's older. I need to take it to someone to have it identified. That's why I'm not sure if it's compliant. If anyone is interested let me know.

If it isn't a 3k or 4k, it must be a first gen (2000). Pretty sure it is still compliant. A pic would be nice if ya can...I may be interested.

It is the 2k. If I use a specific regulator, that shows RP psi, then it is compliant, according to the not so friendly SATA CSR guy. I may end up keeping this baby. I'll let you know.

So what is Sata's recommendation on spraying for like the 2000rp, and 3000 hvlp guns? I can't find much out on the net in regards to recommended air pressures at the gun.

3000,29 psi,hvlp...i have the blue first gen rp.recomended pressure isnt on the gun,,i use mine around 30-32psi...close and really really quick....

So what size air line are you running. I am wondering if the 29psi on the 3000 hvlp isn't for the larger air supply lines. Mine are the 3/8 hose, I believe. I found my 2000 blue rp sprays best at about 20 psi at the gun.

If you decide to sell the RP 1.4, if its a sata 2000-RP or a 90-RP, just need picture, I would be interested in buying.

I forgot I posted this last year. July must be a good month to buy guns. I went to the same pawn shop and got an unused 4000b RP camo edition. Real pretty gun. I want to frame it.
