I have been visiting this forum for awhile now but this is my first post. From what I read here I am sold on SPI products and plan on using them for my repaint. I also think that the posters here answering questions and giving advice are very knowledgeable. So my question is not regarding SPI products but it involves Prospray. I have read here that lots of people use Prospray base and finish with one of the SPI clears such as Universal. I would like to do something like this also but am not familiar with Prospray bases. So I was hoping to get a little more information on Prospray and see how people think it stacks up with PPG or Duponts premium lines and get some opinions for use in my particular situation.
I am repainting a C2 corvette. I am going to strip the paint down to the original fiberglass, would like to use SPI epoxy, primer, and sealer - then apply the base and clear. I want to use the original color and try to match it in whatever base I end up with.
So with PPG and Dupont lines around $600 to $700 a gallon I would like to look at a less expensive option. How does the quality of Prospray base compare with either of these lines? Where I am not concerned with blending or matching but instead repainting the complete car does that change anything? Is there another manufacturer I should be considering?
Any advice or opinions would be appreciated.
