newbie questions about when to use glaze

Hi everyone. I'm a hobby guy working on my first paint project and have a question about using glaze (2-part poly glaze like dolphin, etc.).

I have my project at a stage where I have an epoxy and filler sandwich over the prepped bare metal, and everything is looking pretty good and straight. When I inspect my panels I can't find any low spots, but I have found a couple of areas with pinholes in the filler, and some stray 80g scratches.

My question is how/if should I deal with these imperfections at this stage? I know I can use a product like dolphin glaze for these sort of things after I spray 2K, but would it be better to address them now, before moving to 2K? Or could 2K fill in most of it? And if I glaze them now over the epoxy should I spot in epoxy again before moving to 2K?

Any advice is appreciated! This forum is a great resource!

Thanks, Chris

2K might fill them, but I wouldn't trust that. Even if it fills them, it can shrink back some over time. 2K primer over the glaze is fine, just re-epoxy the whole panel at the end if that is going to be your final sealer.

Fill the pinholes with glaze before you 2K. Another thing I do sometimes is when re-coating filler work with epoxy and I have pinholes after applying X amount of coats of epoxy I then fill the pinholes with epoxy using a toothpick or other suitable tool. It works well if you are not in a hurry on something. Pinholes can be hard to see and almost never fill in when applying any sort of primer normally.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the guidance. Those little pinholes are really tough to see! I like the toothpick and epoxy idea. Will have to give that a try today.
