No experience Epoxy Primers and BCCC

Hi guys,

Im an ol timer who used to spray lacquer in the 60's. I only did a few hobby restorations and then got serious about raising family and work always came first. Although I recently had good luck spraying PGI epoxy
and a little base clear, I can hardly make the claim I have any experience other than just dabbling in it. It did come out really good, but I have three 56 Ford F series on my bucket list now that Im retired and
would like to consider using Southern Polyfor my source of material. I will use a name brand base paint where I can not get a stock color from Southern Poly.

So, how does their epxoy spray compared to other epoxy primers? If I understand correctly, it can be sanded pretty well. Also I thought I read somewhere it does not need a top coat when used on frames cause
it has uv protection.

Its made in USA, so thats good. I like the prices and love free shipping option to my front door. No distrubuters in my area (Whitefish, MT). Just takes more planning on having materials on hand or delays in a
project if I dont plan ahead. Easy trade offs for the good price and what I believe has the potential of being a very good product. More reading on the forum for me, but thinking I will order a quart of the epoxy
and see what happens. I would like to hear what some of you think about the product and how easy application is. I have half a dozen HVP Guns and a good air compressor with 1" copper aiir lines, correct plumbing
for moisture control, and super filter set up. Im ready to start laying down some paint.

hello! good to see a fellow Big Sky resident on here :) I am just down the road in Kalispell.

As for SPI we have been using their products for the last 3 years and I love them. The epoxy is very versatile and can be used for your bare metal primer, final prime, and sealer. And you do not have to scuff it if you prime it or apply filler over it with 7 days of being shot! If you do need to sand it, no problem, within 24 hours its sandable without balling or clogging.

They also make a high build that is unlike any other as far as build and sand-ability.

As far as clear coat goes you have options, I use the universal on all of my street rod and restoration work and the low voc 2020 Euro on quick gun finish jobs. But they spray like 2 different animals. the universal will flow a lot better and can be sanded and buffed years down the road and the 2020 seems thinner in the cup but sprays on "thick" you spray the first coat the way you want it to look the next day it doesn't flow out much and should be buffed within 10 days, it seems to dry a lot harder.

And of course you cant beat the prices and free shipping.

If you have any questions let me know or you can even stop by our shop and check it out. I am spraying a 59 corvette with epoxy right now :)
