Orange peel prior to 2K

I am New Beeee, Ok that being said...........

(Jeep YJ Cowl, building up a new dash)

I have previously prepped and shot 2 coats of SPI white epoxy and did some repair, quantum 1 over it, and sanded everything out. It was beyond my re-coat time, had a couple of bare metal spots. Now shooting more epoxy prior to the 2K (PPG K36).

Learning to better fine tune the gun.

I am using a LVLP gun, Astro S-4000 with a 1.4 tip. air @ 19 PSI and fluid turned in quite a bit (afraid of the runs).

I re-shot the the whole panel, . I sprayed 2 coats. 1st one ran out of paint with one little run. Second coat I went in after 30 minutes induction and sprayed over everything and have major orange peel. This is my question knowing I have a little skill at this point in my experience and need a lot more practice.

My real question, thanks for sticking with me........

Should I wait a couple of days, let it harden up and go forward with the 2K or......

Sand back the epoxy and {hope i don't go through it} and then continue on with the 2K primer sand it out and go to the base coat.

I appreciate all of your expertise and knowledge.

Thanks

I would prob block my peel out beforehand, if its bad peel it'll need a lot of build to get covered up and if its not bad you'll still be sanding it out in The next step anyways. Doing a light block before your 2k will also show any spots maybe you thought you didn't have and still do as well. If you just sand your peel out I'd doubt you break back thru anywhere and if you do id bet it'll be smaller than the dime to quarter size bare spot that is kinda the rule.

I'm a tool and die maker as my day job actually, paint seems so much more, organic, I'd guess you could say.

I also happen to be a bit A.R. and my motto that has taken me more time here and there, but has never seemed to fail me is

When in doubt, sand it out.
