Paint damage due to plastic cover

I am guessing it could work, the danger being if the paint is already too thin. It could be a nightmare to rub through it without the owner having an understanding of what could happen.

2X I had to fix something like that although not as drastic, I was able to just use compound and a wool pad. IDK if that will work for the car pictured or others but it worked for me on those two jobs.

They are moving slowly. :) Plan is to put it out in the sun for a week and then maybe get a paint correction tech to work on it. They asked me for advice, I consulted the experts here, and I made suggestions. Not sure what they will ultimately do. I think they were hoping for a miracle cure in a can and may keep asking around until someone offers one….

I'm sure somebody has a youtube video describing how to fix it using vegetable oil and common table salt. ;)

A week in the sun and the paint cleared up. He took first place at a local show, beating out his son with his 63. Thanks to those who weighed in with their advice.
