Paint Strainers

Did a search on this and only found one post by Barry.

What Micron size should I be using for metallic paint? Do you use the same strainer for all products.

Is there a limit as to how fine a filter you can use for today's metallics? I am using 190 Micron right now.

I’m just a front yard hack as you’re aware, but since 2015 I’ve been using one strainer for everything, which is 190 mesh. Only last year did I spray my first solid colors.

The metallic bases I have sprayed had no issue with the straining. Metallic bases included Motobase, ProSpray, and Urekem.

I've used them all with no real noticeable difference to me. When I say all I mean quality strainers like Gerson Elite. I've used the 125, 190, and the 260 micron ones, only thing I noticed was that it took longer for the paint to go through with the smaller micron ones.

Okay, thanks. I had read somewhere that the metallics used were different sizes but that was probably years ago.

I have had no issues with the 190 micron so I will stay with that.

I don't know what my wife's pantyhose are in microns but, they work well.............

You can file this with using thinner as reducer :p
