I have a frame getting blasted now, and my painter wants to use Master Series silver primer under the SPI Epoxy. The Master Series is a moisture-cured urethane.
He has been doing the Master Series for years, specifically to address what he believes is better rust protection, particularly as the car is in the northeast (NJ). In addition, it should fill some of the pitting in the chassis, although there is minimal pitting. The car is going to be a nice driver, with an occasional show.
One thing to note is that I hate getting rust witness lines on a frame. The frames on these cars (1960 corvette) are notorious for being wet noodles, and they always seem to get the rust witness lines at the frame seams. I want to eliminate this as much as possible.
So, my questions are two fold:
1. Is there any reason to do this step as opposed to just the SPI chassis black
and
2. If this is a good idea, will it cause any problems with the SPI epoxy?
Thanks in advance,
Jon
