Painting a Cornhole Set!

usually a matte finish will be slicker than a gloss. this is in general, not necessarily on a horn hole board as i have no idea but run your finger over a gloss finish on a car then over matte and it will be night and day. gloss will have far more friction since there is more contact area
I'll definitely try it glossy first. Thanks for the tip! Now, back to compatibility with latex... Does anyone have any experience? o_O

The latex will lift and wrinkle with the solvent from the clear.

I have sprayed solvent clear over latex by letting the latex dry for a couple of days, shooting multiple dry coats until the latex was sealed, scuffing the clear, and shooting a wet coat. Even then it sometimes wrinkles.

Make some sample panels and try it before you commit to it, so you can work out the method and process.

Or just get some waterborne and be done with it.

If for some reason, you want a clear finish over latex or some other waterborne paint/dye/stain in either gloss, matte or satin, Crystalac from Becker Labs in Tennessee is my choice. Their gloss one is like a bar finish you see in a tavern. I've never used a better waterborne clear for wood or top coating some waterborne or shellac coloring. No way would I use SPI universal or other clears over latex paint unless I experimented with sealing first with dewaxed blonde shellac as my barrier layer.

I know you're right, but I really like Barry's stuff, and it's right here on the shelf. Sanity tells me to follow your lead, D.A.T. -Bob
