Painting stripes

I am about a week out from getting my car ready to spray. I am using motobase for the primary color. My question is after spraying the primary color how long do I have to get the stripes painted before I clear the car? I plan to add Intercoat clear to the last coat of my primary color ( metallic)

Spray the intercoat after the recoat flash time of the base.
Let it sit overnight, then tape and shoot the stripes.
It's not a race, you have lots of time to get the clear on, days if needed, if it is indoors.

Thanks Dean, so even if my last coat of base has Intercoat clear in it I need to spray other coat of just Intercoat? Also sounds like the stripes have to be painted next day not a couple days later. I understand the time for clear to be sprayed. One other question can base be wiped down with 710?

Intercoat in base? No. Separate coat.
Spray base, let it flash, spray Intercoat, only needed on panels getting stripes, not whole car.
No rush on any stage of this. Take your time. Base has so much reducer it will bite into previous coats.
Yes, 710 is fine and a good idea since we all can't help but touch the paint.

Caveat is the tape. Once you tape for stripes, spray them, wait a few hours then pull the tape at 45 degree angle, carefully. You don't want the tape on too long.

Thanks Dean, the reason for the Intercoat in my base is I have a tuff time spraying the metallic without molting or striping.

I pulled my tape with wet paint. I read somewhere that the paint will lay down better on the edge rather than curling up.
Single stage on all of mine though.

I painted my side stripe first and cleared it. Waited a week then masked it completely and painted the car. The transition is covered by molding.

The car is being painted nightmist blue metallic and stripes are either going to be silver metallic or gunmetal metallic.

ehhh, could probably do it either way. i always prefer to do the stripes first if i can. its just way easier and less masking

I have no idea if that is a good idea. I'm leery of it but maybe someone more experienced will weigh in.

Dean, I only use the inter coat with my base when I sprayed the last coat of base. All the parts that were sprayed off the car ( doors, fenders, front and rear valance etc) . All have been cleared and cut and buffed with no issues.
