Please explain infrared heat

I would like to know what type of infrared heat is used to cure paint.

Short-wave infrared will penetrate the most before being absorbed or reflected, medium wave somewhat less so. Long wave, like those old incandescent heat lamps, can skin the paint surface too rapidly and trap solvents.

The shorter the wave the better, and the more expensive.
