I have the northern tool one and it is basically the same. I found that replacing the gun and nozzle with a heavier duty ALC part made a huge difference. Might have had to change to hose too, can’t remember since it was roughly 12 years ago.Off topic.....Are all pot blasters basically the same? I have a HF one and it kinda blows...
I hate blasting stuff, but sometimes it has to be done.
Yeah man. That’s literally its only job.I have a HF one and it kinda blows...
This is exactly what I do too. I’ve found the critical part to be the media adjustment at the bottom of the tank. I can blast nonstop with mine until it runs out of media.I keep it simple. Air to gun full, air to tank full and I adjust media with the ball valve at bottom of tank. Deadman valve is defeated with a zip tie.
This is the deadman I use

zinger!Yeah man. That’s literally its only job.
That’s because you don’t shut off the media valve at the bottom of the tank immediately after you finish blasting.I guess I should have clarified.....Mine just seem to acts weird when you fill it at first. It will just spit out sand in a large stream for a minute and then function properly. I have tried adjusting the valves on the top and bottom. Sometimes it works great, sometimes its shit....
I do very little blasting, but like you said, sometimes it is needed.Off topic.....Are all pot blasters basically the same? I have a HF one and it kinda blows...

cast iron mix valve with a lever
This website has a picture and an exploded view of the Lindsay style valve. It's a cast iron housing that bolts to a flange on the bottom of the tank, there's a disc inside that rotates to open or close the sand flow. The disc has a linkage arm connected to a handle that goes up to the top so it's easy to adjust standing up without having to reach under the tank.Be interested in seeing what exactly you are using.
I fix that problem by pouring the media through a wire kitchen strainer first. It takes out the big pieces and then no clogging issues.I also use a 3/16 nozzle to prevent those pesky rogue oversized pieces of media from plugging the nozzle. Black Diamond in particular has the problem.

With mine, I shut the bottom valve while shooting and it will clear all the media out of the line so you don’t end up with what you describe the next time you go to shoot.ahh...learn something new every day.
