I am in the planning stages of lighting for my booth.

I would like to know a couple of things from those of you that have real booths and not a temp garage booth such as I have used in the past.

How many lights are enough, or can there ever be enough?

What are critical locations for mounting them?

I see commercial booths with horizontal side lights, others with vertical side lights.
It seems the type of panel construction dictates their choice of lighting.

I did read that a painters shadow is far less when the side lighting is in a horizontal plane.

Most booths do not appear to have much if any end wall lighting.

My entry doors built so they each will mount a recessed 4' 4 tube fixture in the vertical position.

I plan on mounting horizontal end wall lighting , same as the side walls. 4 tube fixtures, 20' of light down each side wall and 12' on the end wall.

I also plan on soffit lighting, 2 tube fixtures, mounting in the angle soffit above each of the side and end wall fixtures.

Total of 116 4' t8 bulbs. 3700 watts, 290,000 lumen's.
3.7kw x $.06kwh =$.29 an hour to heat 'em up. not all that bad imho.

In the ceiling I was looking at putting a 4 tube 4' fixture overhead at each end of the down draft ceiling filters.

I plan on putting a 2 tube 8' fixture in each corner, mounted in the vertical position as Shine has suggested.

That's my plan, now clue me in to what is over kill, what is missing?

Now you guys give me the 411 on my idea.
Shine will tell ya, I got big shoulders so let me have it!
Is this a good plan or waste of money ?

edit: the booth is 16w x 28l x 9.5 h.

my lights are all along the top of the wall . plenty of light BUT no reflection . i like having an 8 ft in each corner so i can see it in the reflection as i spray.

you can never have enough light imo. be sure you use color corrective bulbs. i got mine form fullspectrumsolutions.com. the blumax i believe. if you done have fixtures yet then these are the guys to get those from as well. you can get 4 or 6 tube t5 fixtures. they are HO and cheap to run. my whole shop is lit with them. the booth unfortunately is not. that uses the t8 but as i said i ordered the bulbs for it. the lighting in my shop is still way better than the booth.
