Proper way to install a hood scoop to fiberglass hood? I could use some help

I am installing a custom fiberglass hood scoop onto a fiberglass hood and I could use some help with how to finish it so that the seams do not show through the paint later.
I already cut the hole in the hood and bonded the scoop in place using 3m panel bond 8115. I had to use several screws to secure the scoop in place while bonding. My next step will be to sand down the adhesive and then put a layer of fiberglass mat on the backside of the hood.
BUT, where do i go from there concerning the top side of the hood? I read an article recently about installing new quarter panels on a midyear Corvette. They sanded the area around and on the seam with a 40 grit disc, then applied one layer of fiberglass mat, and then applied a coating of mar-glass filler. They did not mention anything about sanding on the fiberglass before applying the mar-glass filler. Is this the best procedure?

Thanks in advance for the help!!!

fiberglass should ALWAYS be repaired and worked on with fiberglass. the adhesive you used is ok i guess just to tack it on place but that needs to be grinded a bit and the 2 parts actually glassed together. put as many layers of glass as you need to build up higher than the surrounding surface so you can then grind it and sand it back down so its smooth. you dont need marglass filler. in the end just a thin skin coat of filler just to smooth things out and fill pinholes is all that should be needed.
