Recoat times for striping

Time for some more advice. Pending my final blocking comes out ok I am hoping to spray my mustang in a few days. It will have some transparent pearl Shelby stripes. Here are my questions…
I will activate my basecoat, but do I need to activate my pearl for the stripes?

And what do you guys recommend for flash/recoat times in between the base/intercoat/pearl/clear?

I will only need the intercoat on the hood, roof, and decklid, but should I coat the whole car to stay in the recoat window for the clear?

Sorry for any questions that have already been answered in other posts. I’ve been looking, but there is so much info to go through!

If your pearl is suspended in colorless basecoat or intercoat, activate it the same way you would activate basecoat. The more basecoat film build there will be, the more important activation becomes.

Best flash times between bases and clears is as long as practical without risking too much contamination, anywhere from several hours to overnight, with overnight seeming to be the best compromise between waiting and wasting time.

Your choice on how much of the vehicle to intercoat. If there are long wait times, a coat over the whole thing won't hurt a bit, it also sands nicely if you see something wrong (dirt, etc.). Activate straight intercoat as well, same as basecoat.

Thanks Crash. That's a big help. I'll have to wait until my work schedule permits me to do my spraying in the mornings then I'll give it a shot.

Seemed like a good place to ask this question.
Not being familiar with SPI intercoat am I reading that it can be sanded with 600 or so and THEN UV clear over that? I always treated any BC/CC system's basecoat as "unsandable" because it would show through the clear. If any thing in a base coat color needed to be sanded out (dirt, etc..) I would always blow some more BC over that area before clearing. If I'm reading this right and intercoat can be sanded and cleared over I think I just found the "next best thing"!! Set me straight on this please. You can teach an old dog new tricks. I just thought the intercoat clear was for panel blending and 3 stage paint.

What you know is the safest idea for basecoats, because sanding can disturb pigments. But intercoat clear or colorless basecoat has no pigmentation to disturb, that is why it's safe to sand and then clear.
