Recommend a decent detail gun

I want to get a detail gun this summer, doing things like interior areas. I wouldn't use it very much but don't have much experience with detail guns. I don't want something bottom of the barrel cheap, but don't want to drop a lot of money on one since it won't be used a lot. Something mid level.

I also have a starting line mini gun as shown and great little gun use it for everything but keep it clean. My gun is about 8 years old and had the plastic cup then.

Ok, all good to know. I have a Finishline that was my first gun and it’s ok. The fan is a bit narrow but I use it as my primer gun now as it has three different tip sizes. That is a step up from the Starting Line for a full size hvlp. In that series the Starting Line seems like a cheap gun.

I had figured the same for Starting Line detail gun but maybe not the case.

@Lizer, I also started with a Finishline full size and detail size set. They do spray paint but nothing special. I bought Iwata LPH400 full size and LPH80 detail guns and I found they were way better. I have a Sata jet 2000 Digital gun I bought used from someone who didn't believe in cleaning it. After a thorough cleaning it certainly works better than the Finishline but I prefer the Iwata and use the LPH80 for all my small projects.

As far as price goes, anything can happen. Great deals rarely find me so I shop with Google. On a straight-up price comparison, Amazon sells new Finishline detail guns for $111.99, new Iwata LPH80 guns for $227 and new Satajet 4400 guns for $700. I paid $159 to an eBay seller for my Iwata LPH80 back in 2016 and I think that was $30 under the retail price.

northern tools carries cheap guns. so does harbor freight. just run from that purple pos.
vaper is a decent bottom end gun. i have a 45 dollar 2.0 i shoot heavy stuff with. 6 years old.

I bought my Sata 3000 mini jet new in the box off my father in laws yard sale, he picked it up at a pawn shop and sold it to me for 60 dollars. I love that little gun and use it frequently on small jobs.
the sata 3000 or 4 (same gun) mini is the best mini gun sata has ever made. the 4400 i have now is ok but its not as good as the 3000. i still have my 3000 in a 1.2 tip. best mini out there if you can find one.

Wow talk about a score lol. I love my little lph 80 1.2, but I’d take a new $60 sata all day long.

I prefer the lph-80 over the mini-jet 4. I haven't used the sata since I tried out my first iwata. I like the larger fan and the trigger feel of the iwatas

What do you like about the 3000 over the 4400? The 3k is a lot smaller.
