Hello, I am a novice painting my own vehicle, and have been snooping these forums and picked up a lot of useful information.
I am painting a Sprinter van and planned on using Sherwin Williams Genesis LV as the single stage top coat. Currently the van has 2-3 coats SPI 2K Regular Build Primer over SPI Epoxy Primer. I spoke with the S/W rep today and he was a little reluctant of the application because the SPI products have not been tested with the Genesis LV system. Typically it is applied over epoxy primers. The PDS does list some acceptable primers/surfacers.
My question is: how concerned should I be about this?
I could shoot the van with reduced epoxy as a sealer, would this increase chances of success/long term adhesion?
I know no one can give me a guarentee of success, just looking for a little input from folks that know more than I do.
