Cleared my car this morning, the universal clear sprays and works very nice.
I have one problem... a bug landed in the clear and really dug in. I water sanded him out but by the time I got it all out I was thu the clear. I sprayed a light coat of clear over it but you can see the spot. Now I have always useed PPG products I just want to make sure the procedure is the same. I would sand the clear, spray some base on the spot and reclear the area.

Yes, resand the area down, shoot some base and make sure you blend it out nice and re clear the entire panel.

Thanks, this was only my second coat of clear so I will be adding more.

i have a bug kit... long tweezers, and an airbrush needle. ive picked bugs out with tweezers, or stabbed them with the ab needle i got them out while clear was still wet, sprayed a little more uvc. uvc has always flowed back into place. great stuff! of course you risk more dust or sweat drops by leaning over wet project...

Shouldn't he spray a intercoat clear first before he spotted in his base?

No need. Especially since he sprayed a coat of Universal Clear over the sand through.

One thing that no one has mentioned is the chance of the base lifting when you shoot more on it after a sand thru of the clear. Good luck with that spot in. If you have already shot clear over the sand thru, I would feel safer to shoot the base over that clear than to sand it to base again.

I applied some clear over the sand thru then applied color. Thats what I always did with other brands.

540, I do the same thing. When fixing burn throughs or doing small chip repairs I spot in accelerated clear then heat it to make sure it's fully cured. Basically use it as clear primer. Never had a lifting problem doing it that way.
