Sata KLC

I purchased a used Sata KLC gun with a 1.7 tip for SPI epoxy and eventually the Turbo. My question is, can I turn the fluid volume down on this gun to spray SPI base black and SPI clears?

I know this may be tough to answer, but my daughters wedding has put me on a tight budget. Should I hold out and use a different spray gun or can this one get me by? Just wanting some advice in the right direction. Thanks btw. this Sata gun laid down the SPI epoxy perfectly.
 
i had one of those and no way would i spray clear and base with it. its far too big a tip and its just not what the gun was designed for. its even a bit big for the epoxy. epoxy likes a smaller tip. 1.2-1.4mm
