sciphon vs gravity gun

I am looking for a new paint gun to handle high metalics and pearls. I have read that a sciphon gun is better suited for this than a graivity gun. But on the other hand I see that Iwata has a gun that claims being able to handle to task. I know that the gravity fed, high efficiency gun are well more efficient, but I am after the best finish I can get and not all that worried about transfer. Not saying that I am made of money and don't care, but the cost of materials lost is far less than that of the redo if I don't like the results.

Another line of thought on this is purchasing an Accuspray 10 sciphon gun. I have used one of these in the past about 13 years ago on a regular basis and loved it. So with that being said how does it stack up againts guns like the Iwata, Sata, and other high end guns?

I do this as a hobby, and turn out a few projects a year, and have been frustrated with the results I have had with the last few metalic paint jobs I have let out the door. Don't miss understand me, the folks who I did the work for were thrilled. However I feel there is room for improvement, and just exploring my options.

Thanks for the help and thoughts.

I changed to gravity guns about 8 years ago and don't know anyone around here using the old style guns anymore.I recently bought a iwata lph 400 and sofar it's the best gun i've ever used but i haven't sprayed any metallic colors yet with it.I used a gti millenium until i got the iwata and never had any problems with metallic colors, but iv'e learned the hard way that with proper gun set up and control u can get good results with most guns, but i personally would stick with a gravity fed gun.

Wether its "siphon" or "gravity " feed has little to do with it.
Most HVLP guns are gravity, but there are some that also come as siphon feed.
Most "conventional" guns come in siphon feed but some also come in gravity.
The difference is wether it's a HVLP or the old "conventional"
But both can come either way.
There are advantages to both.

I get better metallic control with hvlp guns, the reason i don't use siphon guns is because of the paint left in the bottom of the cup, and for painting upside down gravity guns and pps cups work better for me and clean up is easier.

i like my iwata guns but for metallic i will be using my old jga . when shooting metallic i have always had the bearings in the cut to keep the paint stirred. with a gravity gun your going to get some settlement if anything slows you down .
