scuff pad, between stripping and epoxy

I'm about to strip my project down and once i finish it may be a few days before i am able to get her into epoxy, Im slightly worried about microscopic surface rust. Its very hot and dry here but I'm sure some slight rust starts immediately... Anyway can a guy just hit the 80 grit metal with a red or grey scuff pad to remove any cancer before epoxy?

Yes you can hit any flash rust with a red scotch pad...but here is another option. Just strip and epoxy a panel at a time. Or even 2 or 3 at a time if you have the time available. That way you don't have to worry about any flash rusting or other conaminates. A panel a night and you will be done in no time.

Good call, then if i don't get my 2k on within 7 days i need to scuff with red pad again right?

yes. For best adhesion(when outside the 7day window) , you want to apply a sealer/reduced coat of epoxy after you scuff before your 2k primer.

And the epoxy will be good to spray again the next day if you have left-overs, no waste, strip-spray, strip-spray, strip-spray...

I just looked at the pot life and your right! 48+ hours. Thats great.
Id prefer not to have to go outside the 7 day window. I have stripped a few spots when I first started about 2 weeks ago and I still have no flash rust starting. Its real hot and dry here and its in a nice insulated garage. So I think im going to get it completely stripped down then epoxy it all at once. Do some lite filler work in a few spots and get the 2k on there so I can sand some more!
