Will be spraying a car in gm butternut yellow, Corona cream or something vert similar. I'm assuming the best color for sealer (reduced epoxy) would be white??

Man I used to be able to lay UV clear down like a champ! Not sure what happened there.

White or light gray will work. Three parts white and one part gray as a sealer would cover much better than straight white. Just make sure it is a solid color under the base, and the same sealer color if painting in pieces. White sealer won't cover a dark sanded through edge, and may show after you are finished in the right light. Gray tends to make yellow and orange have a green tint without full coverage.

that butternut color above will have no issue no matter what you go over. its probably 95% white anyway. you really need to watch the sealer or base color when you get into the really bright colors. bright yellow, orange, red, etc.

Yeah I ran into that when I sealed a lincoln with white sealer. I thought my gun was clogged lol

Just to follow up. The car was painted 2 weeks ago. It's been baking since. The lesonal yellow covered epoxy grey sealer EASILY with 2 coats, 3 just because. Was really surprised with how good that yellow covered.

Chassis is also back from powdercoat

That looks fantastic! Nice work!
Not making a dollar on this. I get lunch, and beer after. But its for a friend of mine for 20yrs. And I'm teaching him things along the way. It's a club effort. The underside and trunk were done in color matched raptor liner...oh and a 1500 dollar deck lid job lol

We got the drive train set on and started wet sanding the shell and doors. I painted this 5.3 also, cleaned it, white epoxy 1 coat, 2 coats of orange and 2 coats of production clear. The transmission is just grey epoxy but looks fresh and cleaned up!

The hacking continued thru labor day weekend on this car. Today I painted the hood, rad support skirts and valance. The rad support was powdercoated black First. Red pad, epoxy 25% reduced , then 2 coats of yellow, and 2 coats of universal. The hood and skirts got 3 coats. Hammered it on the skirts , 85 degrees. I'm feeling alot more comfortable spraying vertical panels. I know chris and TK gave me some advice on a post a while back. I upped the pressure and small droplets until it fills in. Results are in. Thanks guys

We cut it to 3000, and used a 2 step process with ACA products. Next time I think I'll go-to 5000 grits and use foam pad. Might be time to retire the wool pad. The ACA really puts 3M to shame. This thing is hauling ass, but it's sitting still. Backyard hack disclaimer here.
