setting gun air pressure

That's how I have always done it too. They claim the high pressure entering the base of the gun, and cutting down the pressure from there creates too much turbulence and spray/atomization and pattern problems...new to me.

i dont use the shut off on the gun. i have a reg at the gun. the air valve on the gun is wide open .

dan , first thing you learn in this trade is to ignore reps and videos . with the dig gauge on the gun it is possible to set at the wall. but i do not use satas so the video is useless to me. like i said if you have a cap gauge you can do it. works fine .

Hi Shine I have been keeping my pressure high at the wall for years, and been having great results dialing my gun in with a gauge at the gun. So far no problems, this video puts a different approach to things.

the video is marketing . has nothing to do with other guns. the only gun you can do this with is the dig sata. unless you have a cap gauge .

I have the digital sata. But i use an iwata reg at the gun. I have a question. If i set the regulator at 25psi. The sata guage will read 22psi.

Wich number should i go by?

Are you aware why they think this video is right?? Because they test spray Q cards, (great!!!!!!!), I can make an aero can look like "baseclear" on a q card but will not get same results on a full size hood or door.

Somebody on here a month ago screwed up a job after using the video idea and never had a problem before or after I told him to change it back.
Speak up and tell the guys what happened asdon'tn't remember who it was.

I believe it was shine or bob h that said the sata digitals regulator dial is nothing but an air speed control. Not a true regulator.

i'm sata stupid. i haven't owned one in 30 years. but any reg without a diaphragm is just a flow control.

YouTube is dangerous to people who can't decipher the junk from the truth. It's hard to tell sometimes, especially when you are a beginner. However, a lot of the time it's incredibly terrible "help" that people who don't know better believe instantly. Just like forum information, if you can't tell the BS from the truth it'll hurt more than it helps.

Still, I do love any thread that teaches me something. Barry's post made a ton of sense.

The reps in those videos alway irritate me and I find myself agravated by the time the vidoe is over.

I dont trust painters in camouflage, especially clean camo, lol .

when I do take advise from youtube, its usually from an old timer with paint stained cloths and work tables. Not spotless unused booths.

My wall is regulated as high as my LAST filter will handle (m60) 125 psi. And use a discicant/ coalescer thats rated at 150 before it and a regulator in the middle.
