I'm getting closer to needing a quality base/clear gun. Currently I have a LPH440 Primer Gun(1.4 & 1.8 needles) and a LPH80 (1.2 needle). I have been doing smaller projects for practice, but will have a few more serious jobs coming up. From what I've read, the SataJet 4000 is a great gun for base coats and the LPH400 is a great gun for clears. I will be spraying a lot of metallic/pearl/candy paints since most of my work is not factory or collision. I've also read that the SataJet 4000 makes spraying metallics much easier. However, I'll need 1 gun that works well for base and clear until I can afford to have two guns. All the money I make doing work goes back into my tools, it's a side business I started just to satisfy my craving for fancy tools I'm not incredibly worried about having a highly efficient transfer, more about quality and making my amateur painting look less amateur!
Short Version:
1. Which gun will work best for both clear and metallic/pearl base?
2. If the SataJet, should I get the RP or HVLP?
3. What size needle would be the best to start with? I use SPI products exclusively except for when I need a different color base.
