I ordered a quart of SPI epoxy primer to try after reading some of the good reviews here. Was planning to shoot some panels tomorrow, but after reading the TDS and some older comments here it sounds like SPI epoxy is a little fussy about grease and wax removers, and since I don't have the correct 700/710 W&G removers I'm thinking I might just stick with my usual PPG JP epoxy primer for this job.
PPG JP is fine with my usual Rustoleum Wax and Tar Remover (stocked at the local O'Reillys) followed by denatured alcohol, so why wouldn't this work with SPI epoxy? The Rustoleum TDS says it's Ethoxylated Alcohols and Water, and SDS lists Diethanolamine as the only hazardous ingredient. Any problem using this or should I just stick with PPG until I can get the proper SPI cleaner?
