SPI Epoxy vs. DuPont 2580CR

H

hudson hornet !

Let me first start off by saying I am a big fan of SPI. I am curious as to what you folks think of DuPont ( Axalta now) 2580CR with Chromate?

Would there be any benefit of spraying 2580CR , waiting 24 hours and then spraying with SPI?

This of course would be over properly blasted and cleaned steel.

What exactly does the Chromate do?

Just curios so don't bite my head off!

Could not get an sds sheet to see exactly what it is , so may be illegal or outdated product.
Either way Dupont was the last to come out with an epoxy in "automotive refinish" I have never heard a good thing since about them, so I am no help as not worth while for me to buy and test if no one is impressed.
Sorry I can't help, use one or the other, using both be a waste of money.

why would anyone want to use dupont any more ? they sold their automotive line because it was junk .

The old Croma base and clear I think 7600 in the mid 90's was a very good line . I have a 57 Olds that I redid and has held up great even when some damage on fender happened clear still has some flex to it. But the DuPont line did go down hill from there and like Shine said Junk.

We have one shop that is completely taken over by Axalta,, I know very little about it to compare to anything.. We have two mix machines going into that town though so we will see how we progress.
